Replacing the SAS/SATA backplane

The drive cage has its own small SAS/SATA backplane. This backplane is
spared as an item in its own right. The expansion box, however, is spared as a
whole. You therefore do not change the backplane in the expansion box, but
change the whole expansion box completely.
Changing the drive cage:
Ê Open the server as described in the
Ê Remove the drive cage as described in the

Ê Remove the hot-plug hard disk modules at the left or right side (for a
description see the Operating Manual).

CAUTION!
Make sure that all hard disk modules are uniquely identified so that you
can reinsert them into their original bays.
