Component replacement procedures

This chapter provides removal and replacement procedures.
There are as many as 98 screws and screw locks that must be removed, replaced, or loosened when
servicing the computer. Make special note of each screw and screw lock size and location during
removal and replacement.

Service tag and PCID label

Service tag

When ordering parts or requesting information, provide the computer serial number and model
number provided on the service tag.

PCID label

The PCID label provides the information required to properly reset the notebook firmware (BIOS)
back to factory shipped specifications when replacing the system board. The label may have a
different number of characters depending on the operating system on the computer.

Description
This is the product name affixed to the front of the
computer.
This is an alphanumeric identifier that is unique to each
product.
This number provides specific information about the
product's hardware components. The part number helps

This number describes the duration of the warranty
period for the computer.
