4-2 Compaq ProLiant DL760 Servers User Guide
Installing a Pentium III Xeon Processor
and Processor Power Module
The ProLiant DL760 server ships with one to eight Pentium III Xeon
processors installed, and it is capable of supporting up to eight processors and
eight Processor Power Modules. Each processor requires an associated
Processor Power Module. A ninth Processor Power Module is always present
to provide processor bus termination power.
CAUTION: Handle the Pentium III Xeon processor only by the ejectors and, only
if necessary, lay the processor on its back (the plastic side with the hologram) to
prevent damage to the heat pipes and fins.
NOTE: Be sure to keep processor terminator boards as processors are added. The
processor terminator boards can be used in the event a processor fails, so that the server
will run with the remaining processors. Processor terminator boards must be installed in
all processor sockets not occupied by processors.
