    Printer controller Overview This chapter describes the overview and connection environment of the printer controller that provides the printer function. Printer controller The printer controller is a device that enables the printing and network printing functions on this machine. 2.1.1 Roles of the printer controller Incorporating the printer controller enables this machine to function as a printing system, allowing printing using applications on the computer connected to this machine.

Print data sent from an application is received by the printer driver. The data is sent to the machine via the USB interface for USB connection or via Ethernet (TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, AppleTalk) for network connection.
