Indexing

Indexing on a lathe is typically used for workpiece
layout and other auxiliary operations that require
equal distances around the workpiece circumfer-
ence, such as clock faces or inlays.
By inserting the indexing pin into one of the three
outer indexes of the Model G0632 spindle hous-
ing and engaging one of the eight inner indexes
in the spindle, the workpiece can be positioned to
one of 24 equal points (see Figure 33).

G0632 16" x 42" Variable Speed Wood Lathe
To use the indexing feature, place the indexing pin
into one of the indexing holes in the headstock as
shown in Figure 34. This will hold the spindle and
workpiece at the desired indexed position.

Always disconnect the lathe from power
before using the indexing feature of this
lathe. Do NOT start the lathe with the index-
ing pin inserted into the spindle; otherwise
