Auxiliary heater
The diesel auxiliary heater (PTC
electrical heater) aids in warming the
engine and the interior compartment
on vehicles with diesel engines. It is
automatically switched on or off
depending on the outside
temperature, the coolant
temperature and the alternator load.

Fuel operated heater

The fuel operated heater aids in
warming the engine and the interior
compartment on vehicles with a
petrol or diesel engine. It is
automatically switched on or off
depending on the outside
temperature and the coolant
temperature, unless it has been
deactivated by the driver.
When the fuel operated heater is
operating, a message appears in the
information display.
The fuel operated heater can be
deactivated using the information
display. See Information displays
(page 96).
Climate control

Failure to do so could result in serious
personal injury. It is the primary
responsibility of the supervising adults
to never leave a child unattended in
a vehicle and to never leave the keys
in an unattended vehicle.
Note: When the switches are
operated often during a short period
of time, the system might become
inoperable for a certain time to
prevent damage due to overheating.
Note: The electric sunroof can also
be operated with the ignition off via
the global opening and global closing
function. See Global opening and
closing (page 50).
