CAUSE
• Using detector
indoors
• Using detector near • Move away

interference
• Discharged batteries • Replace batteries
• Wrong type of
batteries
• Multiple targets
present
• Highly oxidized
target
• Sensitivity set
too high
• Dead batteries
• Batteries connected
improperly
• Cord not connected • Check connections
securely
• Not moving coil in • Sweep searchcoil
motion modes.
SOLUTION
• Use detector
outdoors only
from power lines
at least 30' apart
• Reduce sensitivity
until erratic
signals cease
• Use only 9V
alkaline batteries
• Move coil slowly
at different angles
• Reduce sensitivity
• Replace batteries
from side-to-side
