Thermostat Conversion Kit

Improper installation, adjustment, alteration, service, maintenance, or use can cause explosion, fire, electrical shock, or other conditions which may

The qualified installer or agency must use factory-authorized kits or accessories when modifying this product. Refer to the individual instructions
packaged with the kits or accessories when installing.
Follow all safety codes. Wear safety glasses and work gloves. Use quenching cloth for brazing operations. Have fire extinguisher available. Read
these instructions thoroughly and follow all warnings or cautions attached to the unit. Consult local building codes and National Electrical Code
(NEC) for special requirements.
Recognize safety information. This is the safety-alert symbol
to the potential for personal injury.
Understand the signal words DANGER, WARNING, and CAUTION. These words are used with the safety-alert symbol. DANGER identifies the
most serious hazards which will result in severe personal injury or death. WARNING signifies hazards which could result in personal injury or
death. CAUTION is used to identify unsafe practices which would result in minor personal injury or product and property damage.
This instruction covers the installation of the thermostat conversion kit, Part No. TSTATXXCNV10. This device is a 24-vac accessory that can
turn a 4-wire thermostat application into a 5-wire application. This kit can also be used to replace a broken thermostat wire or to add an extra wire
when control wiring between equipment and thermostat cannot be replaced.
This kit has 2 parts, Part 1 and Part 2. (See Fig. 1.) Part 1 is a pigtail wire connection installed at the thermostat to the Y and G terminals. Part
2 is a small circuit board installed at the indoor equipment.
This kit is designed to use only 1 wire in sharing both the Y and G signals between thermostat and indoor equipment.
NOTE: It must not be used to share the R, C, or W wires.
WARNING: Disconnect all power before proceeding. Make sure main electrical disconnect is in the OFF position.
Failure to follow this warning could result in personal injury or death.
1. Install Part 1 by connecting the YELLOW wire to Y terminal and GREEN wire to G terminal at thermostat. (See Fig. 2, 3, and 4.) Connect
opposite end (BLUE wire) to Y/G connection on Part 2 circuit board. Push excess wire from pigtail into wall or tuck neatly behind
thermostat control board in mounting base.
2. Make wire connections to Part 2 circuit board. Mount circuit board next to indoor equipment low-voltage control assembly. Secure using
screws. Do not install next to high-voltage wiring.
CAUTION: Do not connect any of Part 1 or Part 2's Y, G, or Y/G wires to R or C of the thermostat or indoor equipment.
Failure to follow this caution would result in minor personal injury or product damage.
