Check the rear axle alignment by making
sure the drive chain adjuster index marks
( ) align with the front edge of the drive

chain adjusters ( ).

Both left and right marks should
correspond. If the axle is misaligned, turn
the left or right drive chain adjusting nut
until the marks correspond on the front
edge of the drive chain adjusters and
recheck chain slack.
If the drive chain slack is excessive when
the rear axle is moved to the furthest limit
of adjustment, the drive chain is worn and
must be replaced.
6.
Tighten the rear axle nut to the specified
torque.
Rear axle nut torque:
68 N·m (6.9 kgf·m , 50 lbf·ft)
If a torque wrench is not used for this
installation, see your dealer as soon as
possible to verify proper assembly.
7.
Tighten the drive chain adjusting nuts
lightly, then tighten the drive chain lock
nuts by holding the drive chain adjusting
nuts with a spanner.
8.
Recheck drive chain slack.
9.
Rear brake pedal freeplay is affected
when repositioning the rear wheel to
adjust drive chain slack. Check rear brake
pedal freeplay and adjust as necessary
(page
26
).
Damage to the bottom part of the frame
may be caused by excessive drive chain
slack of more than:
50 mm (2.0 in)
