When descending a long, steep grade,
use engine compression braking by down-
shifting, with intermittent use of both
brakes.
Continuous brake application can
overheat the brakes and reduce their
effectiveness.
Riding with your foot resting on the
brake pedal or your hand on the brake
lever may actuate the brakelight, giving a
false indication to other drivers. It may
also overheat the brakes, reducing
effectiveness.
PARKING
1.
After stopping the motorcycle, shift the
transmission into neutral, turn the fuel
valve OFF, turn the handlebar fully to the
left, turn the ignition switch
remove the key.
2.
Use the side or center stand to support
the motorcycle while parked.
Park the motorcycle on firm, level ground to
prevent it from falling over.
If you must park on a slight incline, aim the
front of the motorcycle uphill to reduce the
possibility of overturning or rolling off the
center or side stand.
