Ejecting a Cartridge through the CAP

When you want the robot to eject a cartridge from the LSM through the CAP, use
the LSM management software to enter the VOLSER of the cartridge you require.
The robot will retrieve it and place it into the CAP.
If the LSM operator panel displays "ONLINE CAP UNLK DISABLD," the CAP is
locked by the host. Issue the command using the LSM management software that
puts the LSM in the "ONLINE - PRESS EXE TO UNLK CAP" mode. Then
perform the steps below.
To gain access to the CAP so that you can remove a cartridge from it:
1. Press EXECUTE on the LSM operator panel.
a. The panel displays "ONLINE CAP UNLK PENDING."
b. The CAP drawer begins to slide toward you.
c. The panel displays "ONLINE CAP UNLOCKED."
2. Pull the drawer toward you. Hold onto the drawer.
3. Remove the cartridge and properly store it outside the LSM. Refer to "Storing
Cartridges" in Chapter 4.
4. Slide the CAP drawer into the LSM. The lock automatically engages.
5. Repeat these steps until all the desired cartridges have been removed.

Replacing the Cleaning Cartridge

The following paragraphs pertain to an LSM that has the AUTO CLEAN feature
enabled. You can use the View Config section of Figure 2–4 in Chapter 2 to
determine whether the feature is enabled.
If the feature is not enabled, you will need to record the number of times a cleaning
cartridge has been used, and replace it when necessary.
When a cleaning cartridge has been used a number of times, as defined in "Setting
the Maximum Usage Count of Cleaning Cartridge" in Chapter 2, the LSM operator
panel displays "CLEANING CARTRIDGE USED UP." Use the procedure below
to replace the cartridge.
Note: The DLT Tape Drive Product Manual recommends using a cleaning
Cleaning cartridges have a unique 3-character alphanumeric prefix in their
VOLSER (default is "CLN"). Cleaning cartridges cannot be used as scratch
cartridges or initialized by software utilities.
Note: Make sure that the CAP cell is empty so that the hand can place the
cartridge about 20 times.
