Note: Refer to Figure 3 for the following procedure.
1. Open the drive access section of the 20/700 tape library (at the right side, as viewed
from the front of the library) by lifting up on the two latches. Turn the latches
counterclockwise and open the side door.
On the 10/180 tape library pull open the outer door and then unlatch the seven latches
on the inside door to get to the drive access section of the tape library.
The latches on both tape libraries can be unlatched as follows:
a. Turn the Phillips-head, latch screw counterclockwise 1/4 turn.
b. Press on the top edge of the latch.
c. Turn the latch handle clockwise.
d. Repeat Steps a through c for each latch.
2. Look inside the drive column area and determine the slot(s) you want to use for each
drive.
Note: The LTO uses one slot and the 9840 uses one and one half slots.
3. Pull on the vacancy-plate knob and remove the plate from the slots where you will
install the LTO drive.
4. Open the drive package.
5. Remove the packing material.
6. Place the LTO drive power switch to the OFF (O) position.
7. Following the lifting procedures described in Chapter 2, "Safety and ESD," of the
installation manual, firmly grasp the drive at the rear with one hand and place the other
hand under the drive mounting plate.
8. Carefully angle the drive into its slot. Push it in as far as it will go and firmly seat the
drive.
CAUTION: In the following step, do not over tighten the thumbscrew.
9. Refer to Figure 3 and turn the thumbscrew clockwise until it is secure.
10. Repeat Steps 1 though 8 for each additional drive you want to install.
