Installing the Host Interface Cables
Note: Term Power is not supplied by the LTO tape drive; it must be supplied by the
To Install SCSI Cables:
On the 20/700 tape library, go to the right front door; on the 10/180 tape library, go to the
rear doors.
The LTO tape drive connects to a SCSI bus and supports both the low voltage and the high
voltage differential alternative.
All host systems should have either the SCSI ports labeled or the international symbols
displayed to indicate the electrical configuration for that port.
Maximum cable length. The maximum cable length for the differential alternative is
25 m (82 ft). Make sure that the total cable length (including all daisy-chain cables)
from the host to the last device does not exceed the maximum length.
1. Record the device address. The default value
of the device address is 5.
2. Route all the SCSI cable(s) from the host to the
library.
Note: Do not attach either end of the
cable(s) at this time.
