FilterScreen
Thefilter screen islocated directlyabovethe dust cup and iseasily
removedby turning it counter-clockwise.It shouldbe checked regularly
to ensurean openairway.Reinsertthe screen by turning it clockwise
(FIG.17).
Bottom Filter Maintenance
Checkthe bottomfilter frequently.Foroptimum performance,replace
bottomfilter every 12 months.
Step 1: Removethe bottomfilter cover by graspingthe right edge and
pivotingto the left (FIG.18).
Step 2: Pullfilter frame from unit by pulling on tab in center (FIG.19).
Step 3: Onsome models,removefilter pad and shaketo removeexcess
dust. If necessary this pad can be cleanedby vacuumingwith
anothercleaner(FIG.20).
Step 4: Replace filter intounit. Replacebottomfilter cover by pivoting
back onto cleanerfrom left to right.
PERiODiCMAINTENANCE
CAUTION: T ornoff the switch and unplug the electrical cordbefore
periodicmaintenance. Never operatethe vacuum cleaner
without the dust bag or filter assembly in place.
Brushroli
The brushrollturns as it sweepsand combsthe carpet nap. Removehair
and threads from the brushrollso it continuesbrushingthe carpet.To
maintainthe mostefficient cleaning,the bristlesmust touch the carpet.
Totest the bristle length,hold a ruler againstthe underneathsideof the
cleaner.If the bristles no longertouch the ruler, replacethe brushroll.
Brushroli Belt, Style U
The brushrolibelt turns the brushroiito agitate,sweep,and combthe
carpet nap. Checkthe belt regularlyto be sure it is in good condition.
Replace the belt if it stretches,cracks or losestension.Cutaway any hair
or threads woundaroundthe brush roll or the belt pulley becausethe
buildupcould causethe belt to rotate unevenly.
