MAKING USER SETTINGS (cont.)
About the TV Aspect Ratio
The TV that you have connected to your set-top has an aspect ratio (width-to-height ratio) of 4:3 (basic/standard)
or 16:9 (widescreen). You must set the appropriate TV Aspect Ratio (4:3 or 16:9) on your set-top, so that it is
compatible with your TV.
Setting the TV Aspect Ratio
If you have not done so already, put your set-top into User Settings mode, as described on page 23.
Press the U or D button until the front panel shows "ASPt".
The flow diagram (right) shows how you use the arrow and select buttons on your set-top's front panel to
change the display and make the settings. See also the instructions below.
1. To change the TV Aspect Ratio, press the R button.
The current TV Aspect Ratio setting ("4:3" or "16:9") appears on the front panel. Whenever the current setting
is displayed, the MESSAGE light will be lighted. You may also see the menu, shown below, on your TV
screen. In the menu, the current setting has > in front of it.
2. Press the U or D button until the TV Aspect Ratio you want appears on the front panel.
3. Press the select button to confirm your choice and change to that TV Aspect Ratio.
4. Press the L button. The front panel will display "ASPt" again.
