EXEMPTIONS
Thefollowing equipment is exempt f rom248CMR5.08(2) ( a) 1through 4:
1. Theequipment listedinChapter 1 0entitled "Equipment NotRequired T oBeVented" i nthemost
current e dition of NFPA 54as adopted bytheBoard; a nd
2. Product Approved sidewallhorizontally vented gasfueled equipment installed ina roomorstructure
separate f romthedwelling, building, orstructure usedinwholeor inpartforresidential purposes.
MANUFACTURER REQUIREMENTS - GASEQUIPMENT VENTING SYSTEM PROVIDED
Whenthemanufacturer of Product Approved sidewallhorizontally vented gasequipment provides a
venting system designorventing system components withtheequipment, the instructions provided bythe
manufacturer forinstallation o ftheequipment andtheventing system shallinclude:
1. Detailed instructions fortheinstallation o ftheventing system design or theventing system
components; and
2. Acomplete p artslistfortheventing system design or venting system.
MANUFACTURER REQUIREMENTS - GASEQUIPMENT VENTING SYSTEM NOTPROVIDED
Whenthemanufacturer of Product Approved sidewallhorizontally vented gasfueledequipment does
notprovide theparts forventing thefluegases, b utidentifies " special venting systems," thefollowing
requirements shall b esatisfied bythemanufacturer:
1. Thereferenced " special venting system" i nstructions shall b eincluded withtheappliance or
equipment installation i nstructions; and
2. The"special venting systems" s hall b e Product Approved bytheBoard, a ndtheinstructions forthat
system shall i nclude a partslistanddetailed installation i nstructions.
Acopyofallinstallation i nstructions forallProduct Approved sidewallhorizontally vented gasfueled
equipment, allventing instructions, allpartslistsforventing instructions, and/or a llventing design
instructions shallremain withtheappliance orequipment atthecompletion o ftheinstallation.
