Appendix D: How To Configure Virtual Serial Port

MergePoint 5200 service processor managers have the ability to access target devices with iLO
through the Virtual Serial port. To use this feature, you must enable the Virtual Serial port on both
the BIOS Serial Console and EMC Console. When Virtual Serial Port is enabled, it provides
remote access through the iLO management controller to the BIOS Serial Console.
To configure BIOS Serial Console:
1.
Enter ROM-Based Setup Utility by pressing

Select BIOS Serial Console and EMS on the main menu.

Select BIOS Serial Console Port on the options.
5.
Press
Enter
6.
Select Com1 or Com2 as the BIOS Serial Console Port.

Press

To configure EMC Console:
1.
Enter ROM-Based Setup Utility by pressing

Select EMC Console on the options.

Select the same port that you selected for the BIOS Serial Console Port.
