Platform power management
You can view the power status and perform power up, power down or power reset operations on a
managed target device using the MergePoint 5200 SP manager.
Console redirection
With the MergePoint 5200 SP manager, you can start and stop a text console redirection session,
set the Serial over LAN (SoL) baud rate or review the previous session of console redirection using
the SoL history buffer.
Group operations for managed targets
Using the MergePoint 5200 SP manager, you can create groups, add targets to multiple groups and
apply group operations.
PXE-based initial BMC configuration management
You can remotely configure the BMC of an out-of-the-box target device using the MergePoint
5200 SP manager.
Discovery of managed target devices
Using either automatic or manual discovery modes, the MergePoint 5200 SP manager can find
supported target devices within a user-specified IP address range. Once a target device is
discovered, you can manage the device from the MergePoint 5200 SP manager web interface.
Access to platform and system information
You can view or modify hardware and operating system information for any target device managed
by the MergePoint 5200 SP manager.
System event logs
The MergePoint 5200 SP manager can display summary information about the event log or specific
events within the log. You may access or clear the log at any time.
User privileges
There are three types of user privileges for the MergePoint 5200 SP manager: Admin, Operator and
User. Admin users can access all target devices and perform all management operations in the SP
manager. Operator and User users can only access assigned target devices and perform limited
operations on the target devices. Admin users may also create user groups. A user group could
include Operators and Users and may be assigned target devices to manage.
Alert center
The MergePoint 5200 SP manager alert center receives and displays alerts generated by
user-defined events for all managed targets. Platform Event Trap (PET) alerts, a specific format of
SNMP trap, are supported. For specific types of events, the user may assign an automatic action for
