Installing the MergePoint 5200 SP Manager

NOTE: The MergePoint 5200 SP manager may be rack mounted in a 1U configuration. The SP manager does
not support a 0U configuration.
To connect and power up the MergePoint 5200 SP manager:
1.
Place the MergePoint 5200 SP manager at the top of the server rack.
2.
Attach a CAT 5 cable to one of the Ethernet ports on the back panel of the SP manager and
connect the SP manager to the LAN. Any target devices to be managed by the SP manager
must be connected to the same LAN.
3.
Attach one end of the supplied power cord into the back panel of the SP manager and attach the
other end to an appropriate AC power source.
4.
Power up the SP manager.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of electric shock or damage to your equipment:
-
Do not disable the power cord grounding plug. The grounding plug is an important safety feature.
-
Plug the power cord into a grounded (earthed) outlet that is easily accessible at all times.
-
Disconnect the power from the target device by unplugging the power cord from either the electrical outlet
or the target device.

Using the Serial Port to Enable Web Interface Access

Perform the following procedure to configure the IP address, which is needed for accessing the
MergePoint 5200 SP manager web interface.
To configure the MergePoint 5200 SP manager IP address:
1.
Connect a terminal or a workstation that is running a terminal emulation program to the serial
port on the back panel of the SP manager.
2.
Start a session with the following port settings:
Serial speed: 9600 bps
Data length: 8 data bits
Parity: None
Stop Bits: 1
Flow Control: None
Once a connection is established, a menu appears.

Set eth speed
Choose using DHCP or defining an IP address
