Implementation Checklist
Cisco Fixed Switches:
1.
Verify power is administratively enabled on all appropriate ports.

Use the command

Admin column values Auto or Static allow power, Never disables power to that port.

Max max-wattage option with Auto or Static variables will allow power or pre-configure
power to a port, but will disable power to an Avaya phone if set lower than the maximum
value of the phones power class..

If applicable, use the command in step 3 instead of the Max max-wattage command.
2. Check possibility of reclaiming logical power

Reclaimed logical power is available beginning with IOS 12.2(25)SEC for a Catalyst 3750

Verify IOS is safe for PDs

Never use IOS earlier than 12.2(20)SE1 because power could still flow through a port even
after the valid PD was removed. This might damage a non-PD device.

problem exists if you see faulty or deny.

Carefully check the column titled "Power from PS mWatts". This is logical power allocated
for each port. The sum of this column reveals how much power is logically reserved from
the power supply(s) at that time.
