Using VPXImport
10. Click Import Custom File to assign a custom IR file to the model. Then, click
Browse to open the Open dialog box, choose the target IR file, and click OK to
assign the IR file. The custom IR file's directory path and filename appear in
the Filename field.
11. Click Wired IR if the model requires wired IR control connections and go to
step 12. Click IR if the model supports wireless IR control and go to step 13.
12. Click Device supports Serial if the model requires wired serial connections for
control. If not, go to the next step.
13. Click Use Power Control if the model supports power on/off IR control
functions. If not, go to the next step. The VPXpress software program requires
that you assign the power on/off IR control function to channel number 9 for
non-discrete control or channels 27 and 28 for discrete control. If not, the
power option will not work correctly.
14. Click Require a Carrier if the model requires carrier signals with the IR control
data. If not, go to the next step.
15. Click Next to save the control information, and open the Custom IR File
Function vs. VPXpress Mapping dialog box shown in Figure 15. This dialog box
lists the control functions and channel assignments of the IR file you assigned
to the model. You must choose a VPXpress IR Template to ensure the assigned
IR file functions and their channel assignments are correct.
16. Click the VPXpress IR Templates down arrow and choose a template name that
matches the active model's equipment type. The functions and channel
assignments assigned to the IR template appears in the Template Reference
column. Then, compare the IR template's assignments with the active IR file. If
the IR file's order is correct, go to step 17. If the order is incorrect, go to step 18.
IR templates are named according to the equipment types they are designed to
control. For example, if you assigned an IR file to a new VCR model, you would
choose the VCR,CASS,DAT – Generic template to populate the Template
Reference column. Then, you could verify whether the assigned IR file's order
is correct or not.
