    ^ Has the lighting been switched off? (See "Settings, Lighting"). ^ If not, then the lighting is defective. Call the Miele Service Department..nothing appears in the display. The machine is not connected to the electricity supply.

  • Page 5 Problem solving guide ^ If the bean container is not empty call the Miele Service Department. If it is empty fill the container with fresh beans..the espresso is dispensed too quickly. The coffee is too coarsely ground.
  • Page 6 Problem solving guide . . . the steam system is switched off but milk froth can still be made. If the steam system is still hot, milk froth can still be made. However, if the steam system has cooled down after being switched off, it will need to heat up again before steam is available for frothing milk.
  • Page 7 If the slide control for the grinder is set to very fine, too much residual "coffee water" can be left in the waste container. ^ If a very fine grinder setting has not been set, call the Miele Service Department.
  • Page 8 Problem solving guide . . . the descaling programme was started by mistake. The descaling programme cannot be cancelled once you have touched the OK sensor. The programme has to be completed through to the end. This is a safety measure to ensure that the machine is fully descaled, and is important for the long-term protection of the machine and to ensure it functions correctly.
  • Page 9 If this fault message still continues to appear in the display, repeat the steps described above. If neither is the case and the fault message still appears in the display, call the Miele Service Department..the message "Fault - 94" appears (plumbed in machines only).

Enough ground coffee for one portion, i.e. a level spoonful of ground coffee, passes through the ground coffee chute. If there is too much ground coffee, the machine is unable to process it so that it can be emptied into the waste container, and a fault message appears in the display.

    Cleaning and care Always allow the machine to cool down before cleaning. Danger of scalding. Do not clean the machine with a steam cleaner as this will damage the machine. Do not use cleaners containing chlorides, acids, soda or scouring agents. These would damage the surface. It is important to clean the machine regularly, as the used coffee grounds will soon go mouldy.

    Cleaning and care Rinse milk pipework To prevent milk going off in the machine and the pipework getting clogged up, it should be rinsed through after use. Rinsing is not a substitute for cleaning the pipework through at the end of the day. Maintenance ^ Use the right arrow sensor to highlight the maintenance symbol and then touch the OK sensor.

    – When prompted to dissolve Cleaning agent in the large container, add the cleaning agent supplied to lukewarm water in the container. It is important to use the Miele cleaning agent as it has been developed for this coffee machine. It is available from your Miele Dealer or Chartered Agent or from the Miele Spare Parts Department.

    Cleaning and care – When prompted, Place the lid on the container and hang it in the machine. Fit the lid from the stainless steel milk flask to the large container and then turn it anti-clockwise until it engages with the large container. Hang it in the machine where the stainless steel milk flask normally sits.

    Cleaning and care Clean and refit the central spout ^ Pull the central spout right down (1) and then pull the cover forwards and off (2). ^ Turn the cover around, push the insert up and out and then clean both parts thoroughly. ^ Slide the insert back into the lid until it clicks into place.

    Cleaning and care ^ Pull the rubber stoppers out, and manually clean the stoppers and the jets thoroughly. ^ Replace the rubber stoppers. ^ After cleaning, push the jets firmly back into place on the central spout, ensuring they are secure. ^ Replace the cover and then push the central spout back up into position.

    Cleaning and care ^ Clean the surface the water container sits on thoroughly, taking care to clean the channels properly. ^ With a plumbed in machine, remove the plastic spout from the water container lid for cleaning. Waste container After a certain period of time a reminder to empty the waste container will appear in the display.

    Cleaning and care Drip tray There is a sensor in the drip tray which causes a message to appear in the display when the drip tray is full and needs to be emptied. Remove the tray and empty and clean it when this message appears.

    Cleaning and care Drip tray cover ^ Take the drip tray cover out and wash it. Coffee bean container The coffee bean container must be cleaned by hand with hot water and a small amount of washing-up liquid. ^ Take the coffee bean container right out of the machine and then push the lid back to remove it.

    Cleaning and care ^ Also clean the small drip tray in the lower part of the inside of the door thoroughly. Brew unit The brew unit must be cleaned once a week by hand, because the moving parts are lubricated and the rubber seals could become brittle in a dishwasher.

Leave the handle in the same position, otherwise the brew unit will be out of alignment and you will not be able to push it back into the coffee machine. ^ Wipe any remaining coffee off the two filters.

    Remove any soiling immediately. ^ Clean the front using a damp Miele microfibre E-cloth or a clean sponge and a solution of hot water and washing-up liquid. After cleaning, dry with a soft cloth.

    Descaling the machine To run the descaling programme ^ Touch the right arrow sensor to highlight the maintenance symbol and touch the OK sensor. ^ Select "Descale" and touch the OK sensor. ^ Select "Start" and touch the OK sensor. The display will guide you through the whole procedure.
  • Page 29 Descaling the machine ^ When a message asking you to fill the water container with fresh water appears, you should remove the container and rinse it out thoroughly with clean water. Make sure all traces of descaling agent are removed, and then fill it up to the k mark with clean drinking water.

    Plumbed water connection (CVA 5065) Notes on connecting to the mains water supply Connection to the mains water supply should only be carried out by a qualified and competent person in strict accordance with national and local safety regulations. This machine conforms to IEC 61770 and EN 61770 as well as ATS 5200.101 and AS/NZS 4020.

    Plumbed water connection (CVA 5065) Connecting the water inlet hose to the coffee machine ^ Remove the cover cap from the bottom of the back panel of the machine. Connect the angled end of the stainless steel hose to the threaded connection of the machine. Use the angled side of the stainless steel hose.
  • Page 32 Plumbed water connection (CVA 5065) The connection point is subject to mains water pressure. Turn on the stopcock slowly and check for leaks. Correct the position of the seal and union if necessary. The protective sleeve of the hose must not be damaged or kinked.

The colour of the correct replacement cover is that of the coloured insert in the base of the plug, or the colour that is embossed in words on the base of the plug (as applicable to the design of plug fitted).

  • Page 36 Installation Installation Before installation make sure that there is no power supply to the machine. This also applies should it ever need to be taken out of its housing unit. The machine must be built in before it is operated. You will need two Allen keys (size 3 and 5) for installing the machine.
