9. Note the dotted lines in the following illustration to properly position the new RAID card near the longer
PCI Express card slot on the riser card assembly 1. Then, carefully press the new RAID card straight into
the slot until it is securely seated and its bracket also is secured by the riser card assembly 1.

10. If you have removed the expander card, connect two mini-SAS to mini-SAS signal cables to the
RAID card first and then reinstall the expander card. See "Installing or removing the expander card"
on page 99.
11. Connect cables depending on your specific server configuration. See "Mini-SAS to mini-SAS signal
cable connections" on page 39.
12. Reinstall the riser card assembly 1. See "Replacing the riser card assembly 1" on page 138.
13. If you are instructed to return the old RAID card, follow all packaging instructions and use any packaging
materials that are supplied to you for shipping.

• To complete the replacement, go to "Completing the parts replacement" on page 163. Then, configure
RAID for your server. See "Configuring RAID" on page 66.
• After a Lenovo RAID card is replaced, do the following:
1. Check the version of the new RAID card firmware by pressing Ctrl+H when starting the Setup
Utility program.
2. Go to http://www.lenovo.com/drivers and follow the instructions on the Web page to download the
latest version of firmware. Then, install the firmware to your server.
Note: If you want to use the Firmware Updater program, ensure that it contains the latest versions of the
firmware. You can go to http://www.lenovo.com/drivers and compare readme files of different versions of
the same firmware for an individual device.
