areaswhere fuel fumes mayreachan openflame, spark,or pilot light ason
afurnace,water heater,clothesdryer, or gasappliance.
PreparingThe Engine
Forengines storedover30 days:
Topreventgumfromforminginfuel system or on carburetor p arts,run
engineuntil it stopsfrom lackof fuelor addagasoline additiveto the gas
inthe tank.If youuseagasadditive,runthe engine for several minutesto
circulate theadditivethroughthe carburetor--after whichthe engineand
fuelcanbestoredup to 24months.
Whileengineisstill warm,change the oil.
Remove s parkplugandpourabout 1/2anounce of engineoil into cylinder.
Replace s parkplugandcrankslowlyto distributeoil.
Clean engineof surface debris.
PreparingThelawn mower
Clean a nd lubricate m ower t horoughly asdescribed in thelubrication
instructions.
Donot usea pressure w asher or gardenhoseto cleanyourunit.
Coat m ower's cutting bladewith chassis g rease to prevent r usting.

Store mowerinadry,deanarea.Donotstorenextto corrosive materials,
suchasfertilizer.
Whenstoringanytype of powerequipmentinapoorlyventilatedor metalstorage
shed, c areshouldbetakento rust-proofthe equipment. U sing a lightoil or silicone,
coatthe equipment, e specially c ables andall movingpartsof yourlawnmower
beforestorage.
