Releasethe valve bypressingthe two tabs inwardwhilepulling
thevalve out, Theoil will beginto drain out of the engine,

Afterthe oil has finisheddraining,pressthe two tabs inwardand
pushthe oil drain valveback in to lock the valveclosed,Remove
the hose,and re-capthe end of the oil drain valveto keepdebris
fromenteringthedrain port.

Refillthe enginewith new motoroil untilthe oil levelon the
dipstickreadsFULL.Replacethe oil fill cap/dipstick.
9.
Pivotthe right handlebracetube back intoposition.Align the
middlehole in the bracetubewith the hole in the handle.Secure
with the star knoband carriagescrewremovedearlier.
Checking
the Spark
Plug
Cleansparkplug and reset theelectrodegap to 0.030"at least oncea
season;replaceannually.

Cleanareaaroundthe spark plug base.Do not sandblastspark
plug.Sparkplug shouldbe cleanedby scrapingor wire brushing
and washingwith a commercialsolvent
Removeand inspectthe spark plug.Checkgap to makesureit is
set at .030".See Figure15.

Replacethe spark plug if electrodesare pitted,burned,or the
porcelainis cracked.Usea Champion®RC12YC spark plug.
Servicing
the Air Filter
If filters,or coversare notinstalledcorrectlyseriousinjuryor death
could resultfrom backfire.Do notattemptto startthe enginewith
them removed.
Donot use pressurized air or solventsto cleantheair filter cartridge.
Cleanor replacethe air filter every 25 hoursof operation.

Pull up on the coverhandle.Rotatethe coverhandletowardthe
engineand removethe cover.See Figure16.

Carefullyremoveair cleanercartridgeand pre-cleaner(if
equipped)fromthe blowerhousing.
3.
To loosendebris,gently tapthe filter on a hardsurface.If thefilter
is excessively dirty,replacewith a newfilter.
4.
Washthe pre-cleanerin liquid detergentand waterand allow it to
thoroughlydry. DONOToil the pre-cleaner.
5.
Placethe dry pre-cleaner, i f equipped,and cartridgeback into
the blowerhousing.Thecartridge mustbe placedsecurelyinto
position.
6.
Align tabs on cover with slotsin blowerhousing.Rotatethe cover
handle backand pushdownto lock in place.
