Use cautionto avoidpinchingyourfingerswhen rollingthe belt off the
PTOpulley.

Pull the left sideof the beltrearwardand downwardwhile
manuallyturningthe PTOpulleyto the right untilthe belt
ridesout ontothe edge of the lowersheaveof the pulley.
NOTE: If pullingthe right sideof the belt, turnthe pulleyto the left.

Whilestill holdingthe beltdownward,continueturningthe
PTOpulleyuntilthe belt is rolledoff the pulley.Referto

raisingthe deck lift handleon the ridingmowerto its highest

Slidethe deck forwardsothat the deck front hangerrod can be
liftedout of the two slotsof the front deck bracket.After lifting the
front hangerrod out of the slots, slidethedeck rearwardsothat
the rod can no longerengagethe slots.
9.
Usingcareto preventthe front hangerrod from fallingback into
the deck bracketslots, carefullyslidethe cuttingdeck (fromthe
rightside)out from underneaththe ridingmower.
DECK INSTALLATION
To installthe mowerdeck, proceedas follows:
1.
Whileholdingthe deck front hangerrod upward,carefullyslide
the deck underneaththe rightside of the ridingmower.
2.
Whilestill holdingthefront hanger rod,slidethe deck forwarduntil
the front hangerrod can be loweredinto the slotsof the frontdeck
bracket.
3.
Lowerthefront hanger rod intothe slotsof the front deck bracket,
then slidethe deck rearward.
4.
Maneuver the deck so that the slotsin the two reardeck hanger
bracketsapproximately align with the deck lift arms of the riding
mower.Referto Figure39.
5.
Usethe ridingmowerdeck lift handleto lowerthe deck lift arms
intothe slotsof the rear deck hangerbrackets.
6.
Pullthe deck supportpins outwardand maneuver the deck as
necessaryto alignthe holesin the deck lift arms with the pins.

7.
Whenaligned,pusheachpin fully inwardthroughthe lift arms to
securethe arms in the rearhangerbracketslots.
8.
Makecertainthe'V' beltis in thespindlepulleyson the deck;then
routethebelt rearward beneaththeridingmowerframe,abovethe
transmission tube(s),to the PTOpulleyon the bottomof theengine.
9.
Installthe 'V' beltonto the PTOpulleyusingone of the following
two methods.
The mufflerat the rearof the riding mowermaybe extremelyhot,
and couldcause seriousburns.Use extremecautionwhennear the
[muff er. A ow the muffer to fu y coo before nsta ng the be t.
10. Usingthe IdlerPulleyto Tensionthe Belt.
a.
Using thedeck lifthandle,raisethedecktothe position that
provides thelongesthorizontal rund thebeltbetween thedeck
idlerpulleys andthe PTOpulleyon thebottomof theengine.
b.
Installthe belt in the PTOpulleyon the bottomof theengine.
c.
Routethebacksideof the belt aroundthefixed idler pulleyof
the deck. Referto Figure37.
d.
Workingfromthe middleof the riding mower,pivot the idler
bracket/movable pulleyrearwardagainstthe springtension
and slidethe backsideofthe beltontothe movableidler
pulley.Referto Figure37.
