Locate the LHandRHdeckrelease
pins
oneachsideof the deck.Pullthe
release pinsoutwardandrelease the deckfromthe LHandRH decklift arms.

9. Place the decklifthandleintothe highestmowingpositionandsMe the
deckout from beneath the tractor.
Deckinstallation
Installthe deck on the tractorasfollows:
1. Place the decklift handleinthe highestmowingpositionSeeFigure 30.
2. Slide the deckunderthe tractoronthe right sideofthe tractorliningup the
deckhangerbrackets a ndthe decklift arms..
3. Once the deckisunderthe tractor,movethe decklift handleto the lowest
mowingposition.
NOTE: Tolinethe brackets up properly, i t maybenecessary t o placeasmall
blockof woodundereachsideof the deck.
4. Pullthe deckrelease pinsoutwardandmaneuver the deckasnecessary to
alignthe holesinthe decklift armswiththe pins.Referto Figure 34.
5. Whenaligned,pusheachpinfully inwardthroughthe lift armsto secure the
armsinthe rearhangerbracket s lots.
6. Reinstall the front decklift rodandsecure inplacewith the cotterpin.Refer
to Figure 33.
7. Makecertainthe 'V' belt isinthe spindlepulleys onthe deck;then routethe
belt rearwardbeneath the tractorframe,abovethetransmission t ube(s),to
the PTO pulleyonthe bottomof the engine.
8. Usingthe decklift handle,raisethe deckto the positionthat provides t he
mosthorizontalrunofthe belt betweenthe deckidler pulleys andthe PTO
pulleyon the bottomofthe engine.
9. Makecertainthe belt is inthe spindlepulleys of the deck,andthat the
backside of the belt isagainstboththefixed andmovable idler pulleys.
10. Sittingbehindthetractor,facingforward,makecertainthe beltis not
twisted;thenreachbeneath the tractorto graspthe beltandpull it toward
the PTO pulley.

Use caution to avoid pinchingyour fingers when rollingthe belt onto the
PTO pulley.

Pullthe rightsideof the belt rearwardandplacethe narrowVsideof the
belt into the PTO pulley.SeeFigure 32.
Whileholdingthe beltandpulleytogether, r otatethe pulleyto the left (See
Figure 32).Continue holdingandrotatingthe pulleyandbelt until the belt is
fully rolledinto the PTO pulley.
NOTE: B efore usingthe tractordouble-check t he belt routingto makesure
that the belt hasbeenroutedproperly.
Replacing the DeckDriveBelt
1. Remove t he deckfrombeneaththetractor,(referto Deck Removal).
2. Remove t he hexwasherscrews securing the belt covers t o the deck.See
Figure 35.
