WARNING: The batterycontainscor-

Do not puncture,disassemble, mutilate or incinerate
the battery. Explosive gasescould be vented during
charging or discharging. Use in a well ventilated
area, away from sources of ignition.

Plugthe batterychargerinto theport on theunderside
of the batteryhousing,Figure5-8.
Insertthe batterychargerpluginto a standard120
volt householdoutlet.See Figure5-8. Chargebattery
for 8 to 10hoursbeforeinitialuse. Do not charge
longer than 12 hours. Thebatteryshouldonlyneed
to be chargedupon initialsetup and afterany other
extendedperiodsof non-use.
IMPORTANT: A lwaysplug chargerlead intobatterypack
lead first, and then insert batterychargerplug into120
volt standardhouseholdoutlet. Followthis order of action
every time youchargethe battery.
3. After charging,disconnectchargerplug from outlet
first, then disconnectchargerlead from battery.
Replacing
Fuse (If Equipped)
The electricstartercircuitand batteryare protectedby a
40 amperefuse. If the fuse burnsout, the electricstarter
will not operate.If the unitfails to startwith the electric
starter,performthe followingstepsto checkthe fuse
inside the batteryhousing:
1. Open the batterycoveras describedin Replacing
Battery. Referto Figure5-6.
2. Removefuse from socketand inspect a s shownin
Figure5-9. If itis burnedout, replacewith standard
automotive40 amperefuse.
3. Carefullyplacewiringback intohousing,close battery
cover,and fold upper handleback intoplace.
NOTE: The enginecan be started manually if the fuse
burns out.
Off-Season
Storage
The followingstepsshouldbe taken to prepareyour lawn
mowerfor storage.
• Cleanand lubricatemowerthoroughlyas describedin
the lubricationinstructions.

• Referto engine manualforcorrectengine storage
instructions.
Coat mower'scuttingblade with chassisgreaseto
preventrusting.
• Storemowerin a dry, cleanarea. Donot storenext
to corrosivematerials,suchas fertilizer.
Whenstoringanytype of powerequipmentin a poorly
ventilatedor metal storageshed, careshouldbe taken
to rust-prooftheequipment.Usinga lightoil or silicone,
coat theequipment,especiallycablesand all moving
parts of yourlawnmowerbeforestorage.
Battery (If Equipped)
The batterymust be storedwith a full charge.Extended
storageof a dischargedbatterywill reducelifeand
capacityof the battery.
We do not recommendthe useof a pressurewasher
or gardenhoseto cleanyour unit.
