SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
- Readbeforeoperatingequipment
Thisproductwas designed and manufactured to meetstrictqualityand
safetystandards. Thereare, however, s omeinstallation a nd operation
precautions whichyoushould beparticularly aware of.
1.
ReadInstructions - Allthesafety andoperating i nstructions should
bereadbefore theappliance i soperated.
2.
RetainInstructions - Thesafety and operating i nstructions should
beretained f or future reference.
3.
HeedWarnings - Allwarnings o ntheappliance a ndin theoperating
instructions should beadhered to.
4.
FollowInstructions - All operatingand useinstructions shouldbe
followed.
5.
Waterand Moisture - Tt'eappliance should notbeused nearwater
- for example, n eara bathtub, washbowl, kitchen sink,laundry tub,
ina wetbasement or neara swimming p ool,etc.

CadsandStands - Theappliance should beusedonlywitha cartor
stand thatis recommended bythemanufacturer.

An appliance and cartcombination s houldbe moved
with care. Quickstops,excessive f orce, and uneven
surfaces maycause theappliance a ndcartcombination
tooverturn.

Wall or CeilingMounting - Theappliance s hould bemounted to a
wallor ceiling onlyasrecommended b ythemanufacturer.
8.
Ventilation - Theappliance s hould besituated sothatitslocation or
position doesnotinterfere with itsproper ventilation. Forexample,
theappliance s houldnotbesituated ona bed,sofa,rug,or similar
surfacethat may blockthe ventilation openings; or, placedin a
built-in installation, suchas a bookcase o r cabinet t hatmayimpede
theflow ofair through theventilation openings.
9.
Heat- The appliance shouldbe situated awayfromhearsources
such as radiators,heat registers, stoves,or other appliances
(including a mplifiers) thatproduce h eat.
10. Power Sources- The appliance shouldbe connected t o a power
supply onlyofthetypedescribed i ntheoperating i nstructions or as
marked ontheappliance.
11. Power-CordProtection- Powersupply cordsshould be routed so
thattheyare notlikelyto be walked on or pinchedbyitemsplaced
upon or againstthem, paying particular attention to cordsand
plugs, convenience receptacles, andthepoint wheretheyexitfrom
theappliance.
12. Cleaning - Theappliance s hould be cleaned only as recommended
bythemanufacturer.
13. PowerLines - An outdoor antenna shouldbe located awayfrom
powerlines.
14. Outdoor A ntenna Grounding - If anoutside antenna isconnected to
the receiver, b e sure the antennasystemis grounded so as to
provide someprotectionagainst v oltage surgesandbuiltup static
charges.
Section 810 of theNationalElectric Code, A NSI/NFPA No.70-1984,
provides i nformation with respect to proper grounding o f themats
and supporting structuregroundingof the lead-in wire to an
antenna discharge u nit, sizeof grounding connectors, location of
antenna-discharge unit, connection t o grounding electrodes and
requirements f or thegrounding e lectrode. SeeFig.below.
15. Non-use Periods - The powercord of the appliance shouldbe
unplugged f rom the outletwhenleft unused for a longperiod of
time.
16. Object andLiquid Entry- Careshould betaken sothatobjects do
not fall and liquidsare not spilledinto the enclosure through
openings.
17. DamageRequiring Service- The appliance s hould beserviced by
qualifiedservice personnel w hen:
A. Thepower supply cordor theplughasbeendamaged; or
B. Objects havefallen, or liquid has been spilled into the
appliance; or
C. Theappliance h asbeen exposed torain;or
D. Theappliance d oesnotappear to operate normally or exhibits
a marked change inperformance; o r
E.
Theappliance h asbeendropped, or theenclosure d amaged.
18. Servicing - The usershouldnot attemptto service the appliance
beyondthat describedin the operatinginstructions. A ll other
servicing s hould bereferredto qualifiedservice personnel.
Note to the CATVsystem installer: This reminderis provided to callthe
CATV system installer's attention to Article 820-40 of the NEC that
providesguidelines for propergroundingand, in particular,specifiesthat
the cable ground shall be connected to the grounding system of the
building,as closeto the pointof cableentryas practical.
