[TROUBLESHOOTNHG
Incorrect operations are often mistaken for trouble and malfunctions.
If you think that there is something
wrong with this component,
check
the points below. Sometimes
the trouble
may lie in another component.
Investigate
the other components
and electrical
appliances
being
used.
If the trouble cannot be rectified even after exercising
the checks listed below, ask your nearest PIONEER authorized service center or your
dealer to carry out repair work.
Symptom
The Rack is not opened when EJECT
button (&) is pressed.
When playback is started, it stops
immediately.
Pauses or stops during playback.
No sound
Probable cause
A disc in the desired Rack is being
played. ( The PLAY INDICATOR is blinking )
A disc is being searched
or 10 seconds have
not elapsed since playback finished.
Sound is distorted, noise is output.

The AC power plug is disconnected
from the
wall outlet.
The internal mechanism
is fixed with
transportation
screws.
Disc is inserted
the wrong way.
With certain discs,
loud noise is
produced, or play stops.
The picture
of the TV screen
is
fluctuating
or FM broadcast
has
noise interference.
Remote control will not function.
Smudges, etc., on the disc.
The selected disc has an electrostatic
charge.

Output
cables
are connected
incorrectly
or
loosely.
Incorrect
operation
of stereo
amplifier.
Pin plugs and/or amplifier terminals are dirty.
Player is in pause mode.
The disc is loaded with the label side leftward.
_ncorrect connections.
Pin plugs and/or amplifier terminals are dirty.
Interference
is being picked up from a TV set.
Disc has bad scratch or warp.
Disc is extremely
dirty.
Interference
is being picked up from the CD
player.
Dead batteries.
Too far from player or wrong angle.
Obstruction between player and remote control
unit.
Remedy
Close all the Racks and the front panels. Then stop
playing back a disc in the desired Rack, or start
playing back a disc in another Rack (for more than 10
seconds).
Close all the Racks and the front panels,
and wait for the Disc search to completely
finish or more than 10 seconds after finishing
playback.
Connect the AC power plug securely to the wall
outlet.
Remove the three transportation
screws. (See
page 4.)
Insert the disc correctly
with
the label side
rightward.
Clean the smudges
from the disc and then
play it again.
Carefully wipe the disc with the supplied Elec-
trostatic charge removal sheet (page 9).
Connect
properly.
Check the settings of amplifier switches
and
sound volume controls.
Clean away dirt.
Press • or II.
Reload the disc with the label side rightward.
Connect to amplifier's
AUX or CD terminals.
Do not connect to PHONO terminals.
Clean away dirt.
Switch OFF TV set, or move player away from
TV set.
Replace the disc.
o
Clean disc.
Turn off POWER of the player, or move the
player away from TV or tuner.
Replace batteries.
The distance between
remote control unit and
player should be no more than about 7 meters.
The operational
angle against the front panel
is within 30 ° from right or left end of player.
Relocate
remote
control
unit
or remove
obstruction.
Abnormal functioning of this unit may be caused by static electricity,
or other external interference.
To restore normal operation, turn the
power off and then on again, or unplug the AC power cord and then
plug it in again.
