to the
channel
on which your cable box sends a signal (usually
channel
3 or 4). Then, when you program,
leave your cable
box turned
ON, tuned
to the channel
you wish to record.
If you
have
difficulty
recording,
your
cable
company
may
be able
to suggest
an alternative
hook-up
method
that
will allow you
to
use the VCR
Plus+system
without
leaving
the cable
box on, or
they
may
be able
to provide
additional
solutions.

more
help.
Beforeyou begin,you need:
• to know how to view the picture
coming from your VCR;
(see page 25),
• to know how to use the menus:
(see page 28), and
• to have completed
the "Programming
channels
automati-
cally" procedure;
(see page 31), and
• to correctly
set the VCR for your satellite
receiver
in the
"Memorize
channels"
menu,
if you are using. (See page 31.)
Most importantly,
you need to have a list of the VCR Plus+
Channel
Guides
for your area. This list can be found in TV Guide.
Your local newspaper
or your cable company
may also be able to
provide
you with this list.
Toset theVCRPlus+Channel G uides:
Complete
the following
set-up procedure
only for each station
whose assigned
guide channel
number
is different
from the
channel
number
that you receive it on. For example,
if the guide
channel
number
for NBC is 2, and your VCR receives
NBC on 23,
you need to "set up" these
numbers
using the procedure
described
below.
If all the channels
whose numbers
are the same (for example,
if
the guide number
for NBC is 2, and your VCR also receives
NBC
on 2), you can skip this set-up
procedure.

Locate a list of the VCR Plus+ Channel
Guides
for your area.
This list can be found in TV Guide. Your local newspaper
of
cable company
may also be able to provide
you with this list.
On a piece of paper,
prepare
a three-column
list. Place the
headings
"Col. 1," and "Col.2" and "Channel"
at the top of the
list as shown.

In the center
column,
write the name of each channel
that you
can receive through
your antenna
or cable system.
In the
right column,
write down the number
on which your VCR
receives
that channel.
