Instructions
CONNECTING THE DRYER TO
HOUSE VENT (CONT.)
• Never
install flexible
metal duct in walls, ceilings,
floors or odler
enclosed
spaces.
• Total lengdl
of flexible
metal duct should
not
exceed
8 feet (2.4 m).
• Avoid resting
tlle duct on sharp
objects.
• For best diTing performance:
1. Slide one end of the duct over the clodles
dryer outlet
pipe.
2. Secure
the duct witll a clamp.
3. Witll the dryer in its permanent
position,
extend
the duct to its fldl lengdl.
Allow 2" of
duct to overlap
tlle exhaust
pipe. Cut off and
remove
excess duct. Keep tl_e duct as straight
as possible
for maximum
airflow.
4. Secure
the duct to the exhaust
pipe with
the odler
clamp.
EXHAUST
DIRECTION
All (liTers are shipped set up for rear exhausting.
On elecuic d_yers, exhausting can be on the cabinet fight
or left side, or through the dryer bottom. G;ts dryeis can
exhaust on the cabinet fight side or the d_yer bottom. To
change exhaust direction you will need Exhaust Kit Pub.
No. 14-A018 and a rigid metal 4" 90-degree elbow. The kit
is available ttuough your GE remileL Follow the
insmlcdons
supplied with the kit.

system and vent hood for proper
operation.
• DO NOT assemble the duct work with fasteners that
exmnd into the duct. They will serve as collection points
for lint.
• Insulation - Ductwork which runs through an unheamd
area or is near an air conditioning
duct should be
insulated to reduce condensation
and lint buildup.

INSTALLMALE FITTINGS IN CORRECT DIRECTION
GAS SUPPLY REQUIREMENTS
Replace brass connecting
pipe that is not plastic-coated.
Stainless smel or plasfic-coamd brass MUST be used.

gas leaks

use NEW flexible
connectors

a gas appliance.

Installation MUST conform wifll local codes, or in the
absence of local codes, with the National Fuel Gas
(]ode, ANSI Z223.1 (lamst edition) or in Canada, the
current CAN/CGA B149.
The gas supply line should
be of i/2"
(:l.27 cm) rigid
pipe.
If codes allow, flexible metal robing may be used
m connect your diyer m the gas supply line. The
robing MUST be consmlcmd
of stainless smel or
plasfic-coamd brass.
The gas supply line MUST have an indMdual stmtoff
valve.
