Adjustments
Neverattempt to makeany adjustmentswhile the engine is running, except
wherespecified inthe operator'smanual.
Levelingthe Deck
Note: C heck thetractor's t irepressure before performing anydeck leveling
adjustments. Refer toTires i n theService section o fthismanual formore
information r egarding tirepressure.
Front ToRear
Thefront ofthe cuttingdeckissupported byastabilizerbarthatcanbeadjustedto
levelthe deck from front to rear. T hefront ofthe deckshouldbebetweenIA-inch
and_8-lnchlowerthanthe rearof the deck.Adjustif necessary a sfollows:
I.
Withthe tractorparkedon afirm, levelsurface, p lace the leverforlifting the
platformonthe second to the top notch(second highestposition)androtate
the bladeasclose aspossible to thedischarge channel t hat isparallelto the
tractor.
2.
Measure the distance from the front of the bladetip to the groundandthe
rearofthe bladetip to the ground.Thefirst measurement takenshould
bebetweenIA"and3/8" lessthanthe second measurement. Determine
the approximate distance necessary f or properadjustment a ndproceed, i f
necessary, to the next step.
3.
Locate theflangelocknut on the front sideofthe stabilizerbracket. S ee
Figure 18.
Tighten the flangelocknut to raisethe front of thedeck;
Loosen the flangelocknut to lowerthe front ofthe deck.

Side toSide
If the cuttingdeckappears to bemowingunevenly, a sideto sideadjustment c anbe
performed. A djustif necessary a sfollows:
1.
With the tractorparked on afirm, levelsurface, p lacethe decklift leverin
the second from the top notch(second highestposition)androtateboth
blades sothattheyareperpendicular with the tractor.
2.
Measure t he distance fromthe outsideofthe left bladetip to the ground
andthe distance from theoutsideof the right bladetip to the ground.Both
measurements takenshouldbeequal.Ifthey'renot,proceed to the next
step.
3.
Loosen, but do NOT remove, t he hexcapscrewonthe left deckhanger
bracket. S eeFigure 19.
4.
Balance t he deckbyusingawrenchto turn the adjustment g ear(found
immediately behindthe hexcapscrew just loosened) c lockwise!up or
counterclockwise/down. Thedeckisproperlybalanced whenbothbladetip
measurements takenearlierareequal.

Retlghten the hexcapscrewonthe left deckhangerbracket w henproper
adjustmentisachieved.

Parking BrakeAdjustment
Neverattempt to adjustthe brakeswhilethe engine isrunning. A lways
IdisengagePTO (bladeengage)lever,moveshift leverinto neutralposition,
Istop engine and removekeyto prevent unintendedstarting.
Ifthe tractordoesnot cometo acompletestopwhenthe brakepedaliscompletely
depressed, or if the tractor'srearwheels canroll with the parkingbrakeapplied,
the brakeis inneedof adjustment. C ontact t he nearest S ears Service Center t o have
yourbrakes properly adjusted.
