Shootingwith the AF Lock
The AF lock can be used in the [_, _, _ or _ mode.
G the DISP.button to turnthe
LCDmonitoron.
To Release the AF Lock
Pressthe _ / _ button.
Aim the cameraso that an objectat
the samefocal distanceas the main
subject is centeredin the AF frame.
Pressthe shutter button halfway
(twobeepswiil play) and pressthe
/ _ button.
The focal distance to the object is locked.
The _ icon will display and the lower
indicator beside the viewfinder will light
yellow.
Re-aim the camerato compose the
shotas desired and shoot.
', When shooting with the focus lock or AF lock using the LCD monitor,
setting [AiAF] to [Off] (p. 89) is recommended since the camera
focuses using the center AF frame only.
,, The AF lock is convenient because you can let go of the shutter
button to compose the image. Moreover, the AF lock is still effective
after the picture is taken, allowing you to capture a second image
with the same focus.
,_ The AF lock can be released by pressing the zoom lever (when
shooting still images) or MENU button, by changing the shooting
mode or by turning the LCD monitor off.
