Setting
the Aperture
(Av
Mode)
Select the aperture to control the depth of field to give accent to your subject by
blurring the background or the foreground.

1. Turn the mode dial to Av.
2. Turn the EXP dial to select the aperture.
• Turn the EXPdial up to open the aperture (decrease the F
number) and down to close the aperture (increase the F
number).
• Available settings: F1.6 (1.8 in CARD CAMERA mode), F2.0,
F2.4, F2.8, F3.4, F4.0, F4.8, F5.6, F6.7, F8.0
O Shutter speed is adjusted automatically.
O If you set an aperture that is either too high or too low for the recording
condition, the indicator flashes. Increase or decrease the setting until the
flashing stops.
