IN AN EMERGENCY
EXHAUST SYSTEM
OVERHEATING ALARM
DEVICES
The vehicle is equipped with metallic-type
catalytic converters.
CAUTION
To prevent serious damage to the
catalytic converters, it is essential that
only unleaded fuel be used.

Do not park the vehicle over paper,
dry grass or leaves, or flammable
materials that could catch fire if they
come into contact with hot parts of the
exhaust system.
If the engine malfunctions with
consequent high temperature in the
exhaust system, the red warning light on
the multi-function display, showing the
words SLOW DOWN will flash or stay on
permanently.

The activation of the SLOW DOWN
symbol is controlled by the thermocouple
through the Motronic ECU.
CAUTION
If the warning light flashes,
the temperature of the catalytic
converters is too high.
Slow down immediately and go to a
service centre to have the malfunction
corrected.
If the warning light remains on, the
temperature in the catalytic converters
has reached a dangerous level and
could damage them. If you continue
driving, the injection-ignition system
ECU will cut off the fuel supply to the
injectors.
The driver must stop the vehicle and
have it towed to a service centre to
have the malfunction corrected.
