If the POST detects a problem, an error message is displayed on the screen. A single problem can cause
several error messages. When you correct the cause of the first error message, the other error messages
probably will not be displayed the next time you turn on the computer.

CMOS Battery Failure
Keyboard error or no keyboard
present
Press TAB to show POST screen

Memory size decreased
Configuration change has occurred
Description/Action
The CMOS battery is no longer
functional.
Replace the battery.
Cannot initialize the keyboard.
Make sure the keyboard is correctly
connected to the computer and that
no keys are held pressed during the
POST.
To purposely configure the computer
without a keyboard, set the error halt
condition in the Setup Utility program
to HALT ON ALL, BUT KEYBOARD.
The BIOS then ignores the missing
keyboard during the POST.
Pressing the TAB key permits you
to toggle between the default POST
screen and a custom POST display
screen.
The main microprocessor information
is displayed on the POST screen.
The total size of installed memory
modules is displayed on the POST
screen.
The hard disk drive information is
displayed on the POST screen.
When a key is kept pressed for a
long time, the error message will be
displayed during the POST.
The system might be overheating.
Press F10 to exit.
Note: If the problem is caused by the
microprocessor fan, pressing F10 will
not solve the problem.
When there is no keyboard detected,
the error message will be displayed.
Press F10 to exit.
This error message is displayed when
a hard disk drive or optical drive
change has been made.
Press F10 to exit.
