The storage systems attach to the server and the interconnect
components as described in Chapter 1. The installation types are
Unshared direct, with one server, is the simplest and least costly;
Shared-or-clustered direct, with a limit of two servers, lets two
servers share storage resources with high availability; and
Shared switched, which has two switch fabrics, lets two or more
servers share the resources of several storage systems in a storage
area network (SAN).
Table 6-1 illustrates the storage-system installation types.
CX300, CX500, CX500i, and CX700 storage systems require at least one
network connection for management.
