Yes, the Magnavox ZV450MW8 DVD Recorder and VCR Combo can duplicate a VHS tape to a DVD without using the remote control, as long as the tape is not copy protected. The dubbing function is accessible through the [SETUP] button on the unit.

We followed steps completely to record VHS to DVD except we had DVD-R disc and the manual said get DVD+RW disc. We have ordered the DVD+RW disc and they arrive today. SO I **** trying to see what we are doing wrong. We recorded the DVD, finalized it but when we went to play DVD nothing on there. Is the Disc the problem, will it be resolved with the new disc? or can I get a step by step guide on what to do to transfer the VSH tapes to DVD.

To successfully record VHS to DVD using the Magnavox ZV450MW8 DVD Recorder and VCR Combo, follow these steps:

1. Make sure the VHS tape is not copy-protected and the tape’s erase-protection tab is not removed.
2. Insert a recordable DVD (DVD+RW, DVD+R) into the DVD drive.
3. Insert the VHS tape you want to copy into the VCR.
4. Set the unit to Dubbing mode.
5. Start playback of the VHS tape.
6. Begin recording on the DVD.
7. Recording will stop automatically when the set recording time is reached or the disc becomes full.
8. After recording, finalize the DVD if you want it to be playable on other DVD players.

Note: If the disc was recorded by another recorder or computer, set “Replace Disc Menu” to “ON” before recording.
