Ultra SCSI with the HP NetServer LH Plus and LH Pro
Internal Storage System
If you install Ultra capable SCSI drives in the internal drive bays of your NetServer LH Plus or
LH Pro, the drive will not operate in Ultra SCSI mode unless you enable Ultra SCSI for the SCSI
controller(s) connected to the internal drive bays.
If your internal drive is connected to an add-in SCSI controller that supports Ultra SCSI, refer to
the controller' s user documentation for instructions on how to enable Ultra SCSI for the channel(s)
connected to the internal drive bays.
If your internal drive is connected to one or both of the embedded SCSI controllers, you should
enable Ultra SCSI for the corresponding controller(s) to operate in Ultra SCSI mode.
Jumpers on the motherboard control whether Ultra SCSI can be enabled for the embedded SCSI
controllers. Jumper J36 controls SCSI A. Jumper J29 controls SCSI B. With a jumper installed,
the associated controller will run in Fast-Wide mode. With the jumper removed, the associated
controller can run in Ultra SCSI mode.
To enable Ultra SCSI mode for the embedded controller(s) connected to the internal drive bays in a
LH Plus NetServer, you must:
1.
Remove the jumper(s) J36 - SCSI A and/or J29 - SCSI B from the motherboard
to allow enabling Ultra SCSI for the associated controller(s). Refer to the
Service Reference Label, affixed to the top of the chassis inside the NetServer,
for the location of the "Fast SCSI A" (J36) and "Fast SCSI B" (J29) jumpers on
the motherboard.
2.
Start the EISA Configuration Utility (ECU).
3.
From the ECU main menu, select "Step 3: View or edit details".
4.
Scroll down to "SCSI A - Device Configuration for Embedded SCSI"
5.
Highlight "BIOS configuration" and press Enter.
