Probable Cause
Port Error Statistics counter is
nonzero, meaning that a Cyclic
redundancy check on frame
failed error was detected when
receiving frames. This can be
caused by a faulty cable or
deteriorated SFP. It can also indicate
deeper problems in the
motherboard or ASIC. This message
is generated by the
portloopbacktest command,
if problems are found.
Port Error Statistics counter is
nonzero, meaning that a
Discarded Class 3 frames
error was detected when receiving
frames. This can be caused by a
faulty cable or deteriorated SFP. It
can also indicate deeper problems
in the motherboard or ASIC. This
message is generated by the
portloopbacktest or
spinsilk commands, if problems
are found.

Encoding error, inside

receiving frames. This can be

Recommended Action
Check for a faulty cable or
deteriorated SFP. Replace the

replace the motherboard FRU.

must replace the entire switch.
