WEP s tands for Wired Equi val ent Privac y, a data
privac y mechanism based on a 64(40)-bit shared key
algorithm.
6. What is a M AC Address?
The Media Acc ess Control (MAC) address is a unique
number assigned by the manufac turer to any Ether net
networ king device, s uch as a networ k adapter, that
allows the networ k to identify it at the hardware level.
For all practical purposes , this number is us uall y
permanent. Unlike IP address es, whic h can c hange
ever y time a computer l ogs on to the networ k, the MAC
address of a device stays the same, making it a
val uable identifi er for the network.
