Orphan zoneset Zones that are currently not in a zoneset are considered to be part of the orphan zoneset. The
orphan zoneset is not an actual zoneset, but rather a way of displaying the zones that are not
currently in a zoneset.
Pending firmware The firmware image that will be activated upon the next switch reset.
POST Power On Self Test
Power On Self Test Diagnostics that the switch performs at start up.

Principal switch The switch in the fabric that manages domain ID assignments.

Target A storage device that responds to an initiator device.
TR Port Transparent Router port. The port type used to map devices on a 8/20q Fibre Channel Switch
(local) fabric to devices in a remote fabric of other vendor switches.
User account An object stored on a switch that consists of an account name, password, authority level, and
expiration date.

World Wide Name A unique 64-bit address assigned to a device by the device manufacturer.

WWN World Wide Name
Zone A set of ports or devices grouped together to control the exchange of information.
Zoneset A set of zones grouped together. The active zoneset defines the zoning for a fabric.
Zoning database The set of zonesets, zones, and aliases stored on a switch.
