Backing Up, Restoring, or Erasing Your Settings The configuration settings of the modem router are stored in a configuration file in the modem router. This file can be backed up to your computer, restored, or reverted to factory default settings.

    The software of the modem router is stored in FLASH memory, and can be upgraded as new software is released by NETGEAR. Upgrade files can be downloaded from NETGEAR’s Web site. If the upgrade file is compressed (.ZIP file), you must first extract the binary (.BIN or .IMG) file before uploading it to the modem router.
