You must read and understand these instructions for use
and the instructions for use of the powered air-purifying
respirator (Dräger X-plore 8000) used before you use the
respiratory filter (Dräger X-plore 8000 Filter) and you must
only use it for the intended use (as described below). Fail-
ure to do so could lead to injury or death.
If you have any questions concerning these instructions or how to
properly use the respiratory filter, ask your supervisor or call Dräger
in the USA at 1-800-437-2437. In other countries, please contact
the respective Dräger subsidiary or your local dealer.
Supervisors have to ensure that in their field of responsibility all
users are familiar with these instructions for use and will use the re-
spiratory filter in strict accordance with these instructions for use.
Description
These instructions for use describe particulate filters, chemical car-
tridges, combination filters and odour filters, which are summarized
under the name "respiratory filters" (Dräger X-plore 8000 Filter)
Respiratory filters are part of the powered air-purifying respirator
Dräger X-plore 8000.
Intended use
Respiratory filters are suitable only for use with the powered air-pu-
rifying respirator Dräger X-plore 8000.
Particulate filters are used to reduce the percentage of particles
from the inhaled air.
Chemical cartridges are used to reduce the concentration of certain
harmful vapors and gases.
Combination filters are used when both particles and gases/vapors
occur in the environment.
Odour filters are used for nuisance odour relief from organic vapors
(OV), chlorine (CL), sulfur dioxide (SD), and hydrogen chloride (HC)
at concentration levels below OSHA PEL.
To select the appropriate respiratory filter for the hazardous subs-
tance you seek protection from, you must go to the Dräger VOICE
hazardous substances database at www.draeger.com/voice or call
Dräger Safety in the USA at 1-800-437-2437. The web site helps to
indicate which respiratory filter to select.
The respiratory filters conform to National Institute of Occupational
Safety and Health requirements as specified in 42 CFR, Part 84.
Color coding and marking of these components conform with the re-
quirements of the American National Standards for Identification of
Gas Mask Canisters and Cartridges, ANSI/AIHA Z88.7-2001 or with
the requirements specified in 42 CFR, Part 84. For proper, effective,
and safe use of these respiratory filters the user must establish and
implement a complete respirator program (including a change sche-
dule) in accordance with applicable laws and standards, for instan-
ce, Occupational Safety and Health Administration 29 CFR,
