Using the line tool

The line tool ( ) draws straight lines on an image.
To use the line tool:

Specify a foreground color as described in
"Choosing the foreground and background
colors" on page 214.

Select and double-click the line tool to display
its Options palette.

Specify the blending mode and opacity as
explained in "Using the Options palette for
painting and editing tools" on page 203.

For Weight, enter the line width.
Select Anti-aliased to create soft-edged lines.

To include arrowheads, select Start, End, or

both to specify where you want arrowheads.
To edit the appearance of arrowheads, click

Shape and do the following:
For the width of the arrowhead, enter a value
from 10% to 1000% of the line width.
For the length of the arrowhead, enter a value
from 10% to 5000% of the line width.
For the concavity of the arrowhead, enter a value
from –50% to +50%. The concavity value defines
the amount of curvature on the widest part of the
arrowhead, where the arrowhead meets the line.
Arrowheads created with different values
Drag in the image. To constrain the line angle to

a multiple of 45
, hold down Shift as you drag.

Erasing

The eraser tool and the Auto Erase option for the
pencil tool let you replace colors in an image either
with the background color or with transparency.
