Using Layers
When you create an adjustment layer, its effect
appears on all the layers below it. This lets you
correct multiple layers by making a single
adjustment, rather than making the adjustment
to each layer separately.
To confine the effects of an adjustment
layer to the layers immediately below it,
create a clipping group consisting of these layers
(see "Creating clipping groups" on page 275).

Creating an adjustment layer
Adjustment layers have the same opacity and
blending mode options as image layers and can be
rearranged in order, deleted, hidden, and dupli-
cated in the same manner as well. However, you
also specify a color adjustment type for an
adjustment layer. Depending on your choice, the
dialog box for the selected adjustment command
may appear. (See Chapter 6, Making Color and
Tonal Adjustments.) The adjustment layer takes
the name of the adjustment type and is indicated
in the Layers palette by a partially filled circle to the
right of the name.
