Maintaining and Protecting the Tablet PC
Protecting the Tablet PC from
Power Surges
To protect the tablet PC from the power surges that may be
caused by an uncertain power supply or an electrical storm:
Plug the tablet PC power cord into an optional, high-quality
surge protector.
Provide surge protection on the cable that connects the
modem to the telephone line.
During an electrical storm, run the tablet PC on battery power
or shut down the tablet PC and disconnect the power cord.
Surge protectors are available from most computer or electronics
retailers.
Protecting the Tablet PC Against
Viruses
When you use the tablet PC for email, network, or Internet
access, you expose the tablet PC to computer viruses. Computer
viruses can disable the operating system, your applications, or
your utilities or cause them to function abnormally.
Antivirus software can detect most viruses, destroy them, and, in
most cases, repair any damage they have caused.
HP strongly recommends that you install antivirus software
before you connect the tablet PC to the Internet or a network.
Antivirus software can be purchased from most computer or
electronics retailers.
