Instructions for converting cooktop to operate on Liquefied Petroleum Gas
STEP 8: ASSEMBLE IN REVERSE ORDER OF DISASSEMBLY. Leak test prior to operation. Verify inlet
pressure, manifold pressure and proper operation of all burners. When satisfied that all burners are operating
correctly, apply conversion label shown in Figure 7.
Testing consists of leak testing, regulator pressure check, inlet pressure check and observing the ignition and
general flame characteristics of each burner. Flame characteristics shall be observed with each burner
operating independently and with all burners in operations.
PRESSURE TEST the supply pressure at the inlet using a calibrated U-tube manometer (or other low
pressure test equipment). Pressure should be above 11 inches W.C. (Water Column) and less than
½ P.S.I.G. (Gauge Pressure in Pounds per Square Inch). Consult factory if pressure exceeds ½ P.S.I.G. or if
sufficient pressure is not available.
The Pressure Regulator is pre-set to 10 in./W.C. (when adjusted for LP, See Figure 6).
PRESSURE TEST the manifold pressure before assembling shutters. Stretch 3/8" diameter surgical tubing
over the main orifice and connect the tubing to the manometer to perform this test. Turn on the valve that
supplies the instrumented orifice and record the column height.
LEAK TEST with gas pressure supplied to the unit; but with the unit still disconnected from the electrical
supply. Using an audible gas leak detector or bubble forming leak detection fluid, snoop each connection at
the manifold while listening for the audible leak indication or looking for bubbles. When satisfied that the
manifold is leak free, test each burner supply tube individually. Without the Top Frame installed, reassemble
all burners. Connect the electrical supply and turn on each burner individually. Snoop the tube at all connec-
tions of the tube in operation listening for the audible leak detection signal or look for bubbles if using the leak
detection fluid. Repeat for all burners.
FLAME TEST after reassembling unit. Check each burner individually and with all burners on HIGH. Flame
must ignite repeatedly and rapidly. Flame should be stable and without wavering or lifting from burner.
The color should be predominantly blue. Consult factory if flame is lifting, lazy or showing predominantly
yellow tips.
When satisfied that there are no leaks, and that the burners
operate satisfactorily, apply the completed conversion labels (2).
SEE FIGURE 7.
One label should centered among the burners within the chassis
box in a clearly visible location affixed to the bottom of the
chassis box.
Affix the second label as close as possible to the rating label on
the underside of the chassis box.
