Should you encounter any problems using Nikon Scan, check the list below before contacting your retailer or Nikon representa-
tive.
Problem
Nikon Scan displays the error,
"Nikon Scan was unable to find
any active devices."
The host application does not
recognize the Nikon Scan plug-in
(Macintosh).
The film jams in the scanner.
The scanned image is out of
focus.
Appendix B: Troubleshooting
• If you are using a 4000 ED, COOLSCAN IV ED, LS-2000, or COOLSCAN III,
the FH-2/FH-3 film holder may have been inserted in the scanner at start up.
After removing the film holder, turn the scanner off and then on again.
• The scanner is turned off or not connected. Connect the scanner as described
in the hardware manual.
• The interface extension board (SCSI or IEEE 1394) is not correctly installed, or
the device drivers are missing or corrupted. See the manufacturer's manuals
for details.
• The scanner device drivers are not correctly installed (Windows only). See
the scanner hardware manual for details.
• Your computer does not meet the specifications given in the system require-
ments.
• Nikon Scan is not correctly installed. Reinstall Nikon Scan as described in
Appendix C.
• The plug-in has not been copied to the application's plug-ins folder.
• The application does not support Adobe Photoshop 5.0 plug-ins. Use a differ-
ent host application.
• See the scanner hardware manual for more information on resolving jams.
• You did not perform an autofocus operation before making a scan.
• The focus point requires adjustment.
